Our nominal opening times are 9 to 5, which will be easy for our clients to remember. We will in fact take deliveries such as accounting records from 8.30 am, and also on Saturday mornings by arrangement. Over holiday periods such as Christmas, we might also take a delivery on a reasonable day by arrangement.
Companion Websites
We now have a couple of companion websites. One of these gives advice on bookkeeping systems, and the other lists upcoming deadlines.
Defence in Depth
We are keen on the introduction of optical character recognition with a view to scanning bank statements. There are a number of OCR devices on the market, such as pens, mouse scanners, wand scanners and conversion software for flatbed scanners. If you buy and try any of these devices, you will probably notice quite quickly that the device works quite well some of the time, but it has a tendency to go haywire and produce utter rubbish. Why on earth would an accountant be interested in anything like that?
A Quiet Time for Accountants
The January 31st Self Assessment deadline is now over, and it’s a quiet time for accountants until after Easter. There is a prospect of sitting around with nothing to do, although we will be out promoting our services. We would like to take on some VAT work. This has to be done all year round, and in addition, our software allows us to start work on the preparation of the annual accounts without duplication of activity. This in turn takes the stress off the next busy period in December/January. Our innovative software has solved a major problem that accountants have. This is a pleasant discovery which wasn’t foreseen.
