Let’s say you were out, and you come back to find on your caller display that somebody has telephoned you, but who? Do you know that you can just type in the telephone number on Google, and often you will find out something about your caller. It might not be complimentary! If you suspect that a company called “Dodgy Trading Ltd” is a scam, then try searching for “dodgy trading ltd scam” to see what other people say.
It is possible to search on Google for all sorts of things. If a client of mine makes a payment to a supplier whom I cannot identify, and there is no invoice, I will try searching for the supplier’s name on Google to see who it might be, and often I get a result. If a client buys a piece of machinery, let’s say an Ace 3000 Combined Pulveriser, I will look on Google to see exactly what sort of fixed asset it is, since it could be a motor vehicle or it could be just static plant and machinery. A picture may help, so I will look on Google Images as well.
Google is definitely the friend of the accountant and the business owner, and it is up to your ingenuity to find new ways to use it.
If you search for me, I am an accountant. I do not make musical instruments. Sorry!
