A status check is often all that you need. Your accounts ought to move rapidly through our all-electronic system if you have supplied all the necessary information. You will naturally want to know if there is anything holding them up. Have the accounts been sent to the Revenue or your bank manager? If they are due to go to the Revenue, is this reflected in the information shown on HMR&C’s website? Please just put the words “status check” in the title of your e-mail.

Many documents can be sent to us as an e-mail attachment. Most modern printers are also scanners, and you can scan a document, turn it into a PDF file, and then e-mail it to us as an attachment. A document from a third address can be scanned, e-mailed to an intermediate address, and then forwarded to us all in one go.

Some of the e-mail which we receive may be re-routed into our “spam” directory. We still review this directory, and will look at anything with a decent heading. We may then file anything which could be promising for the future. Attachments to obvious spam will not be opened.
